1. "Application of Bax Normilasation in Saudi Arabia: The how!"

Stephan Bax argues that, "Our aim should be to attain a state of `normalisation' in which the technology is invisible and truly integrated"

This article discussed the issue of CALL how it was in the past, how it is now, and how it will be in the future. It discussed the three phases of CALL:behavioistic CALL , communicative CALL, and integrative CALL. o

Bax suggests that most of us are currently using Open CALL but our aim should be to attain Integrated CALL, a state of ‘normalization’, in which the technology is invisible and truly integrated. It “does not yet exist to any significant degree, but represents instead an aim towards which we should be working” (Bax 2003:22) . o

Stephan Bax, talk about normalization that is when the technology reaches a stage that it will be invisible and we use it every day.

He suggests steps in order to make CALL reach a normalization stage in teaching.

In my Opinion in Saudi context we need to organized plan to apply what Stephen Bax suggest. We need to prepared student from their first years of their school life to reach what Stephen suggests. Also, we need to advanced teachers who can helps students to improved and helps to make a technology as a part of their life by asking them to create a blog, Make a PowerPoint presentation…etc.   o
What I said does not mean that we do not use the technology in education in Saudi Arabia. We use technology like a Power Point Presentation, computer labs …etc. but we need more.  o

The most important thing I would mention that's the technology that we need it does not omit the role of teacher. I think our need for teachers and technology are equally.   o

  5. Dear Eman,
Welcome to the world of blogs!
I agree with you that technology will never replace teachers. Don't you think students are already prepared to use these tools, as they are considered digital natives? I believe teachers are also ready but they need to know the "how".
